About Me by Trish Johnson

ABOUT ME – MY PROFILE

I am a seasoned professional with extensive research and administrative experience, possessing over 20 years’ business experience in progressively expanded roles. Over the last nine-year period, I have been engaged with two well respected Professional Services firms in the Financial Advisory divisions, and worked with the Project Finance (‘P3′) and Real Estate Services groups. Prior to joining these firms I worked in Real Estate and Personnel Consulting in both Vancouver and Alberta.

Following a lay-off due to ‘redundancy’ in early March, 2009, I decided to create my very first personal blog which was an enjoyable, albeit at times a frustrating, learning experience, that resulted in my site gaining popularity relatively quickly. In July, I found myself wanting to explore and challenge my entrepreneurial spirit further by exploring Internet-based business opportunities. I then purchased a domain name, and created http://corpsecrets.ca.

I firmly believe that a positive, proactive approach is absolutely necessary to succeed in anything we decide to take on in life. For those of you that are gainfully employed today, I humbly suggest to you that adopting a positive, proactive attitude, and actively contributing to your firm’ success by going above and beyond will aid you greatly throughout your career.

Full-Time Employee Starting New Career-My Own Career

By Unemployed American Member Ami May

I have been a full time employee at a Ham Processing Plant for almost 13 years.  Some days I can't begin to fathom that number, especially with my questionable background.  13 years...

I dropped out of High School during my last semester of my Senior year to move as far away from my family as I could.  I moved 2 states away from a troublesome family to a place where I knew absolutely nobody except for the person I moved with and had to start from square 1 as an adult with only myself to blame.  I was scared yet as almost any teenager can tell you, felt like I knew it all.

Boy was I wrong...

Going crazy in a crazy world

By Trudy Coppin

I just moved to San Diego with hopes of starting a business, but was not prepared for everything to go wrong.

I was sick for the past 8 years and just started feeling well enough to try and recapture my life. My best friend lives here and we want to start a very small business, possibly a deli/bakery.  We figured since that is what we are both qualified for, why not.  However, my finances weren't as sound as I thought so I was left trying to find a job. I thought that it would be a breeze because i have so much experience, how the heck was I to know that everything as we know it would be lost.  It has been almost 6 months now and it is hard not to just lay down and give up.

Carrie's Story

By Carrie Reneau

Right out of high school I attended the Art Institute of Dallas.  I really enjoyed my courses however immaturity won out.  I did not have a support system for monetary or moral and so I dropped out.  Shortly after, I started working at Airborne Express and gave up on trying to go to school.  I got married, had a child, and life went on.

I finally settled that after I retire from Airborne Express/DHL I would still be young enough to go back to the Art Institute, obtain a degree, and work another 15-20 years in an industry I am naturally talented for.
