Improving your business skills can have a tremendous improvement on your career. The good thing is that you don't need to go to school to do so. There are thousands of different websites and books out there that can help you learn all of the things that you need to know to get ahead. It also doesn't take much time investment to start, you can read before bed or browse the internet on the weekend (or while you're supposed to be working!).

After I graduated college I wasn't able to get a job in the field that I studied right away. It wasn't until almost five years had passed that I was able to put the things that I learned in college to use. The problem was that I couldn't remember most of it! It had been so long since I had studied that I just wasn't sharp anymore. I had to turn to management books and some great websites to sharpen the knife again so that I could keep moving forward.

As the internet keeps growing there are more open "schools" out there that have their curriculum available for anyone to study online for free. The most popular is the Sloan School of Management that offers the same classes that their students participate in, but you and I can do them at our own pace. The obvious downside to this is that there is not teacher, so you have to have the discipline to get the job done on your own. Even if you just want to brush up on what you learned way back in college, this is a fantastic place to do so.

Improving business skills is something that should be done throughout life to keep your career moving forward. If you're not going to improve, I'm sure that someone in your office is, and they would love to have your job!
