I would like to welcome everyone to this site!
I created Unemployed American as a way to pass the time while left unemployed at the end of 2008.
For over 12 years, I have dedicated my life to Broadcast Journalism. I have traveled around the world doing the job that I love. My Broadcast experience combines both Air Force News and the American Forces Network, along with nine years on the civilian side at three different News Stations.
2008 was a harsh reality for millions of Americans across the country. While I reported story after story about businesses closing, outsourcing to India, Fanny Mae and Freddy Mac, little did I know that those same hardships would soon be knocking on my door. And like so many Americans, I was not prepared.
Once you register with Unemployed American you can post your resume and make connections to better network with others on the site. You can also post in the forums and I certainly hope that the site can provide an avenue for both information and support for all of those who feel lost, unsuccessful, and emotionally drained from the experience. Together... let's get back on our feet working in the greatest country in the world!
I encourage you to take part in the forums and spread the word about the site. The more people who provide feedback in the forums, the more help will be generated as a community, where those new to the world of unemployment will feel like they have support.
Furthermore, I gladly accept any advice on what a community of unemployed and former unemployed can do to make the site better.
Thank you again for stopping by UnemployedAmerican.com!
